DESCRIPTION:Since August 2007 the certifying examination in dermatolog
 y has been administered in a single day, comprised of three sections:\
 n\nExamination in Dermatopathology: In this section, candidates are qu
 estioned on 36 glass histopathologic slides that they examine on micro
 scopes provided by the Board. This section of the examination encompas
 ses the entire spectrum of dermatopathology\nWritten Multiple Choice E
 xamination in Dermatology: This 132-question section tests the candida
 te's knowledge of the basic science and clinical aspects of dermatolog
 y, including all the related disciplines. Among the topics included in
  this part of the examination are clinical dermatology, pediatric derm
 atology, preventive dermatology, entomology, epidemiology, dermatopath
 ology, cutaneous allergy and immunology, dermatologic surgery, cutaneo
 us oncology, sexually transmitted diseases, internal medicine as it pe
 rtains to dermatology, medical ethics, photobiology and cutaneous micr
 obiology as well as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, molecular biolo
 gy, radiation therapy, physical therapy, pharmacology, genetics, and e
 lectron microscopy as related to dermatology. Considerable emphasis is
  placed on comprehensive knowledge of the literature.\nImage-associate
 d Examination in Clinical, Laboratory, and Surgical Dermatology: 160 p
 rojected digital images are utilized in this part of the examination. 
 Candidates must answer multiple choice type questions about the projec
 ted pictorial material, which is drawn from all areas of clinical, lab
 oratory and surgical dermatology.\n\nExamples of the types of images u
 sed include photographs of patients, diagrams and illustrative drawing
 s and pictures of histopathologic sections, bacterial cultures, Tzanck
  preparations, skin scrapings and smears, roentgenograms, histochemica
 l and fluorescent photo-micrographs, electron micrographs, darkfield m
 icrographs and drawings or photographs of organisms, including viruses
 , rickettsiae, bacteria and parasites that affect the skin.\nCandidate
 s must answer multiple choice type questions about the projected picto
 rial material covering dermatologic surgical areas including, but not 
 limited to, Mohs micrographic surgery, hair transplantation, dermabras
 ion, sclerotherapy, liposuction, chemical peels, tissue augmentation, 
 and anatomy as it relates to dermatologic surgery.\n\nThe results of t
 he examination are reported as a single Pass/Fail score. Unsuccessful 
 candidates will be required to repeat the entire examination.\n\nFor m
