MDLIVE and lagnosis Collaborate on New Virtual Dermatologist Platform

Virtual diagnosis platforms continue to disrupt the dermatology industry, and MDLIVE, a massive telehealth service, is jumping on the bandwagon. In a partnership with lagnosis, a teledermatology system, they will launch a 24/7 virtual dermatology service starting January 1, 2018.

The new platform is designed to be user intuitive. After selecting dermatology services from the patient dashboard, patients can upload photos of the affected area and fill out a simple questionnaire that goes over medical history and condition symptoms. According to a press release, on average, patients receive a diagnosis and treatment plan within 18 hours of having submitted all required information.

Skin conditions will be virtually reviewed by lagnosis’s group of board-certified dermatologists that are “trained to diagnose and treat more than 3,000 medical conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails, including management of chronic skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis and eczema.” The team also performs spot checks for patients who are worried about moles or other lesions.

MDLIVE’s rolling out this new platform as an alternative to long wait times for clinic-based dermatologists. “Wait times in some areas of the U.S. can be as long as three to six months. Now MDLIVE can reduce the patient’s wait time to get the dermatology specialty care they need from weeks or months to less than 24 hours,” said Dave Zynn, CEO of lagnosis. It’s also a great option for individuals suffering from chronic skin conditions who need to consult with a dermatologist on a regular basis. They don’t have to take time off work or take the kids out of school to get help with sudden flare-ups or to get their prescriptions refilled, and for routine follow-up.”
