George J. Hruza, MD, MBA, FAAD starts his presidency of the AAD

Dr. George J. Hruza started his 1-year term as the president of the American Academy of Dermatology on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He assumes the role as Dr. Suzanne Olbricht concludes her term as president. Dr. Hruza will be the president of the largest professional society for dermatologists. The AAD includes more than 20,000 dermatologists.

Dr. Hruza is a practicing dermatologist in St. Louis, MO and is an adjunct professor of dermatology at St. Louis University. He has held many leadership positions in the past including as a member of the AAD Board of Directors. He is also a past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery.

With regard to to his plans for his presidency, he remarks, "The health care landscape is evolving, and it's important for dermatology to evolve with it. During my time as president, I will work to empower our members to view change as an opportunity and to inspire them to get involved in the Academy's efforts on behalf of their specialty. If we work together and speak with a united voice, we can drive positive development."
