The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) add two additional guidelines for the management and treatment of psoriasis.
The AAD is the largest organization of dermatologists in the world and the NPF is the largest psoriasis patient organization in the United States.
The joint AAD-NPF guidelines draw attention to non-dermatologic conditions which may be associated with psoriasis including psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, anxiety and depression.
The guidelines also outline biologics in psoriasis, including their indication, effectiveness, recommendations for use and potential adverse effects.
These guidelines will be published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD).
