Thomas E. Rohrer, MD, FAAD, Joins Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology

NEW ORLEANS (Feb 4, 2011) — Thomas E. Rohrer, MD, FAAD, a Chestnut Hill, Mass. dermatologist, begins a four-year term as a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy), the world’s largest dermatologic society, representing more than 16,000 physicians specializing in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nails conditions. 

Elected to the board of directors in April 2010, Dr. Rohrer assumed office at the conclusion of the Academy’s 69th Annual Meeting in New Orleans. He will hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association. 

Dr. Rohrer is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. and a residency in dermatology at the combined Boston University-Tufts University program in Boston. He completed a Mohs and Dermatologic Surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. 

Dr. Rohrer is a clinical associate professor of dermatology at Boston University School of Medicine. He is very active in the dermatologic community and currently serves as chair of the Academy’s sports committee. He also has served on the board of directors for the American College of Mohs Surgery, the Association of Academic Dermatologic Surgeons, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
